The PSYCHEDELIC LIGHTMARE is the latest mind-melting collaboration between Death By Audio and Levitation–the legendary festival dedicated to psychedelic music and culture. This light-responsive reverb/tremolo pedal unlocks a massive spectrum of sounds, warping your tone in ways you never thought possible.

At its core, it features a lush stereo reverb paired with a sharp chopping tremolo, but the real magic happens with the built-in light sensor. This sensor dynamically alters the clock speed of the effect, responding to shifts in light seen by the sensor eye on the face of the pedal. In other words, in a dark room, the clock will be slow, and when light shines on the pedal, the clock speeds up. The result? Wildly shapeable soundscapes—warping reverbs, shifting tremolo speeds, and bending your clean signal into a light-controlled, tape-like warble.
Designed to capture the otherworldly sonic experiences of Levitation, the PSYCHEDELIC LIGHTMARE is a gateway to new dimensions of sound.
Open your 5th eye. Step into the 6th dimension. Play diminished 7th chords on your 8-string bass 9 times a day. The universe demands it.
Adjusts the output level of the pedal. Turn it counterclockwise for a quieter signal or crank it up for a powerful, overdriven boost..
Controls the mix between your dry signal and the reverb. At noon (50:50), you get an even balance of both. Turn it up for full, immersive reverb or down to completely remove the effect.
Sets the decay length of the reverb, ranging from a tight room to a vast, hyper-realistic space cave. Increasing the WARP RANGE and playing in darkness extends the reverb time even further into the void
Adjusts the tremolo speed. In the OFF position, the tremolo is fully bypassed. As you turn it up, your signal begins pulsing, ranging from slow, hypnotic waves to intense, alien-like ring modulation. The WARP SENSOR can dynamically alter this speed. TREM affects both the clean and reverb signals.
Controls how much the light sensor influences the sound. Turn it down to disable light control entirely, or turn it up to let changing light intensity drastically reshape the effect.
A light-reactive sensor that controls the main clock speed of the pedal, with its sensitivity set by the WARP RANGE knob. Changes in light intensity warp all effects simultaneously—stretching reverb into eerie decay, slowing tremolo into deep pulses, and even bending the pitch of your dry signal by shifting the sample time for an organic, light-controlled vibrato.
The Psychedelic Lightmare is a stereo in/stereo out pedal, but can also be used in mono or mono-to-stereo configurations.
For a standard mono setup, plug into either INPUT (R) or INPUT (L) and use the corresponding OUTPUT (R) or OUTPUT (L).
Plug into INPUT (R) and connect both outputs. This splits your signal into stereo for a wider, more immersive spatial effect.
When both inputs and outputs are connected, INPUT (L) routes to OUTPUT(L), and INPUT (R) routes to the OUTPUT(R), creating a full stereo-separated signal.
